Nairobi the capital city of
Kenya has a large number hotels and accommodation properties. The
accommodation facilities in Nairobi reflects the diversity of visitors,
the historical background and its multi-ethnicity of its population.
Note that the first hotels to be built in Nairobi were to cater for
adventurous tourist, big game hunters. Thus all the hotels in
Nairobi are built with the tourists in mind. Likewise the architecture

is probably the biggest open air market south of the
equator. Gikomba specializes in mitumba ( used clothes and
other items) and food stuffs. The City Market
(once a hangar) opposite Jamia Mosque is the best place to buy
cut flowers and curios. Be careful when changing
money in these markets as the operators are not recognized
though they give better rates than the foreign bureaux. If
you need to change money here, be accompanied by someone who
knows the place as you might as well loose your money. The
Maasai Market on the University wasy slip road is
ideal for those interested in Maasai Curios. For fruits
and vegetables visit Wakulima Market along Haille Salesie Avenue
next to KPCU. The biggest Hawker Market at
Muthurwa is also worthy a visit. Ngara
Market across Nairobi River is ideal for those
interested in high quality secod hand clothes.
Shopping Malls
include ABC Place( Waiyaki Way), Adams Arcade (Ngong Road),
Village and the Mall in Westlands, Village Market (Gigiri) an
Yaya Centre in Hurlingham.
