Getting to Meru

Drive from Nairobi takes 4 hours on a well maintained, in fact no potholes these days.  However once you take the right turn junction at Makutano watch out for numerous bumps (sometimes un marked).  Drive past Embu and in 4-5 Hours you will be in Meru.   If you like you can still follow road A2 to Nanyuki, past isiolo Meru.  This takes 4-5 Hours too.

Blue Towers Hotel>This is so far the best property in Meru. The hotel has a car park, gym, conference room, internet cafe, restaurant.  No bar available.    All guest rooms are well appointed, very clean with private shower/bath, telephone, multi-channel Tv.  The hotel is located at Makutano ( Look OiLibya).

White Star Hotel/Whitestar

The white  Star is a sister hotel to Blue Towers.  It is located along Meru Mau Road, before you reach Mafuko Industries.  The hotel has conference facilities, car park, restaurant but no bar.  Rooms are well appointed with private bath/shower, multi-channel TV, telephone.

Meru County Hotel

The Meru County is the largest property in town.  The hotel has a good car park, restaurant and garden bar. It is located in town opposite DC's office along the Meru Isiolo Road.  Rooms are clean with private shower, TV, phone.

The Pig & Whistle Hotel was built in 1930s.  It is in this hotels that Joy and George Adamson stayed resulting in Joys divorce from her second husband Peter Bally.
