Stone Town has a large number of hotels/accommodation facilities. Some hotels are fragrantly luxurious while others are for budget travellers. Serena Hotel is
the crown in the Jewel of Stone Town Hotels. However for those who want leisure in exclusive palm fringed, white sandy beaches, then the
North Coast hotels, the North East coast hotels, and the
East Coast hotels are ideal. Stone town refers the old quarter of Zanzibar. Our
Hotels directory while not exhaustive, gives one a guideline as to the location of hotel and the room rates. The room rates shown below
reflects HIGH SEASON RATES are subject to confirmation. For low season please make enquiries. We have also included the hotels in the

Getting to Zanzibar:
There are two ways of getting into Zanzibar. By air or by Boat.
The five star Zanzibar Serena Inn is a good example of restoration of old historical buildings into modern
hotels in Zanzibar. The old Ex-telcoms house forms the main building of the resort hotel. The other is the old Chinese Doctor's reseidence.
The hotels features en-suite rooms, a large swimming pool, restaurant and
coffee shop, business centre, conference facilities.
Chavda Hotel
This hotel features Zanzibar style en-suite rooms with multi-channel Tv, air
conditioning, telephone facilities. The rooms are well decorated with
antiques and Persian Carpets. They have an upstairs restaurant and
roof top bar.

Zanzibar Stone Town Tourist Attractions
Besides Hotels, Zanzibar Stone Town has a lot to offer in terms of tourism. Historic buildings, spice
island tours, Arab Swahili culture are the main
attractions to the visitors. The main tourist attractions in
Zanzibar stone town includes:-
- Historic buildings like the
house of wonders, Livingstone's (1860) house (Houses Zanzibar Tourist
Corporation ZTC), the old dispensary. the old custom's house, the Palace
Museum, the house of Wonders, the Arab Fort, St Joseph's Cathedral, Tippu
Tip's House, the old British consulate.
- Forodhani Gardens:- Forodhani
gardens are a very popular place especially with the
locals in the evenings when they come for drinks and snacks
- The Market:-the main market
of Zanzibar is a meeting place of diverse people's from different part of
the island where they come to sell and buy commodities.
- Palaces-there are numerous
sultan palaces in Zanzibar. Besides the one in Stone Town, there are
others like the Maruhubi, Mtoni, Beit el Ras, Kibweni and Chuni Palaces
all to the North of stone town.
- Water sports:-Popular water sports include snorkeling, diving,
swimming and swimming. Diving can be done through out the year.
The Northern coast and Pemba are the most preferred
destinations for diving.
- Dolphin Tours:-the dolphin
tours are organized in the village of Kazimkazi in the southern tip of
Zanzibar. October to February is the most favourable time to see dolphins.
Sightings are not guaranteed and swimming with them is a rare occurrence.
- Spice Island Tours:-. The aim of these tours is to
introduce one to the spices and even fruits which are grown in Zanzibar.
